How does CBD work in the endocannabinoid system
CBD acts upon the receptors naturally found throughout the body called CB1 And CB2. CBD activates the endocannabinoid system and in turn, promotes homeostasis which helps to reduce inflammation and pain. These receptors are responsible for different functions throughout the body. CB1 receptors are mostly located within the brain and help to lower anxiety, blood pressure, depression, and some intestinal inflammation. CB2 receptors help with intestinal difficulties, cardiovascular and also help with skin and bones.
Endocannabinoids are components of the cellular membrane that we manufacture on demand. Meaning, when the body needs it, it releases it for healing. The effect of CBD is created through indirect actions. It activates other receptors such as TRPV1 which are the receptors for relieving pain, regulating your body temperature and reducing inflammation. CBD is known to inhibit fatty acid Amide Hydrolasis which elevates a molecule known as the bliss molecule(anandamide) which helps with pleasure and motivation.
